Introduction to Literacy Shifts in Content Areas
Provides participants with an introduction to the key shifts required by the CCSS for literacy development in content areas. This session is designed for teachers in all content areas who work with Title I students, including: history, social studies, science, technical subjects, and electives. The session provides actionable strategies to help struggling learners increase their reading comprehension. Participants will have discussions about processing the shifts, naming the literacy standards for subject areas.

- Understand the shifts for literacy
- Activity work with the standards to build familiarity
- Discern what is complex text and evidence from text using informational text from social studies, science, and other content areas.
