Questioning for Higher Order Thinking

DESCRIPTION:

Strategy filled session focused on ways teachers can use questioning to promote higher levels of thinking and increase learning outcomes for students. Session also teaches participants the clear connection between CCSS and questioning techniques, the difference between creative and divergent thinking skills, and Think Time I and II. Teachers will align thinking skills with CCSS’s and practice active listening strategies.

OBJECTIVES:

Essential Question – How can thinking skills be enhanced through questioning?

  • Connection between CCSS and higher order thinking
  • Use of listening skills
  • Differentiate between divergent and creative thinking
  • Understand and practice Think Time I and II
