Using Text-Dependent Questions

DESCRIPTION:

This session is designed to teach participants how to develop high-­‐quality text dependent questions for instruction. This skill is important to develop reading, writing, and speaking grounded in textual evidence. This session is not just for reading teachers but appropriate for teachers in all content areas who work with Title I students. Participants will create quality text dependent questions, discussions around text dependent question and their implications for instruction, read and discuss related readings.

OBJECTIVES:

Essential Question – How can consistent use of text dependent questions lead to higher level thinking and CCSS mastery?

  • Understand textual evidence expectations of CCSS
  • Grounding communication (speaking, writing, reading) in textual evidence
  • Develop high quality text based questions
